Mamata Banerjee to assess ministers today
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will hold the appraisal of her ministers on Friday. So, some ministers are extra-cautious this time not to get the rebuttal as chances of a reshuffle can't be ruled out.
Most of the ministers have already prepared a progress report of their concerned departments, so that the CM can easily assess their work. Many of them were found busy reading the departmental progress reports and some of them even cancelled their programmes this week.
However, some ministers are also curious to see how the progress report of the departments, which are headed by the chief minister, is marked. The question doing the rounds at the moment is, will she be happy with her own departments — land, health, minority, hills and tribal welfare? Officials said that as the CM has handled the politics of the Hills well, this department will surely get high grades. But, the land and health departments may face tough times as all are aware that there are much grievances against these two.
Friday's meeting on appraisal of the ministers and secretaries is considered to be decisive as Mamata plans to announce the government's work plan for 2014, ahead of the Parliamentary polls. Several departments have already sent their year planner to the CMO.
Some officials said that the ministers are trying hard to keep the figures and data at their fingertips, so that they do not cut a sorry figure while being quizzed by the CM. Some of them even have plans to carry the blue prints in pen drives and laptops to make a presentation before the CM.
The youth service department has stated in its calendar how they will be celebrating Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary in January, 2014.
Similarly, the municipal and urban development department gives stress on observing Netaji and Tagore's birthdays among all the municipal affairs.
Health department will showcase how they will set up new hospitals and medical colleges and their other initiatives in the months to come.
